In recent years I have refrained from listening to secular music coming out today’s generation. Even the Christian music today isn’t very God centered and Christ focused, so I haven’t really listened to music except while singing hymns during corporate worship at church. Today I was watching tv and saw Carrie Underwood sing live on Regis’s morning show. That was probably the best "live" singing I`ve heard! I have not bought music in years....but I’m considering getting hers. Underwood`s country rock song (Before He Cheats), which I would have called "Run for your life", is great advice for young girls, and single ladies. As I listened to her sing the song, I realized it helps make a case for abstinence. And So I decided to write up my thoughts on this and share with young ladies online.
The truth is, us older women know... guys, from teen years up...have an agenda and its not what a girl thinks, and once they're "hooked" in love the girl will have a very hard time getting out of it (because they have emotional connections with the guy, possibly sexual connections also). The girl may feel like they are in love, but the guy isn’t. It isn’t about love for the guy, its about getting into the girls pants (and he will deceive the young lady into thinking that if she cares about him, she’ll do it). And they don’t just want to destroy your purity, they want to continue in the sin of fornication since "you conceded to it once already". Don’t let Satan deceive you through the young man’s desires. In this promiscuous day and age, young women get themselves in so much trouble because they don’t stop and think about all of this and its long term consequences. First it’s a crime against God’s Law to have lustful thoughts and sexual activity outside of marriage, and that is a serious thing, but also if the girl gets caught up in a relationship, they will be more likely to stay with the guy than to break free, find a godly man, and please God with her life lived in purity and on the path or righteous living before God. Relationships with unsaved men, and any relationship that leads to fornication, can bring heart ache and pain for years to come. She may end up having an child and be unable to live the life and purpose God created her for, as she now has a child to care for. Or she may have an abortion and emotional and spiritual scars from it that haunt her the rest of her life, or she may give the child up for adoption. That child would grows up without parents and their life is scared and damaged too, or they might land in a home of a loving husband and wife who care for them, but still wonder about their birth parents. There is so much tragedy that surrounds any of these options, and it could be averted if the girl did not get involved with the guy intimately.
So ladies, please keep your clothes on and tell the guy no. Keep it platonic. If he loves you he will wait. If he’s worthy of your hand in marriage after you finish college, then he’s the one for you. If not, move on in life if the relationship ends because you won’t have intercourse or sexual activity with him. He’s not worthy of you. God will send someone to you in the future who is worthy of you. A godly Christian man who loves the Lord his Savior, and respects you as the woman God created for you, not to use and abuse you. Keep pure.
Romans 13:11-14 ~
“And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The time is nearly over; the Lord’s return is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in immorality and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh or sinful nature.”
